What: The Guardsmen/ Giants Celebrity
Dinner & Sports Auction

This year, for the first time, The Guardsmen and San Francisco Giants team-up for what will be a very exciting evening on behalf of disadvantaged Bay Area youth: Join 10-15 current Giants Players, Coaches, Management, Radio Personalities, The Guardsmen’s own Ronnie Lott and the Hon. Gavin C. Newsom to celebrate baseball in San Francisco!
This evening will begin with a VIP reception (for event sponsors) with players, coaches and management, followed by a hosted cocktail reception and silent auction which precede an elegant sit-down dinner (served by Giants players) concluding with a live auction featuring many impossible to find and/or purchase items.
The Guardsmen is a non-profit organization founded in 1947 for the purpose of helping disadvantaged children (largely from single parent homes living at, or below, the Federal poverty level) in the greater Bay Area. The all-volunteer membership organizes various activities that have raised $1,000,000 to 1,500,000 each year for the last several years. This year, efforts of The Guardsmen will ensure that over 100 children receive Scholarships to attend private grade schools and high schools as well as will offer thousands of children the opportunity to attend Summer Camps administered by well-established organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs.
Since 1991, The Giants Community Fund has used baseball as a forum to encourage youngsters and families to live healthy, productive lives. The Fund supports Junior Giants summer leagues throughout Northern California and collaborates with the efforts of the San Francisco Giants to provide assistance to targeted community efforts in the areas of Education, Health and Violence Prevention. Since its inception, the Fund has donated $5,000,000 to community efforts.
This
event will mark a new high for celebrity auctions and is an excellent
opportunity for organizations to build relationships and further their
reputations for involvement in the Bay Area community. This year ~6,000 invitations will be mailed
and distributed to friends of these two organizations and is anticipated to
draw a (quickly) sold-out crowd of 450 attendees. The audience is young,
sophisticated, and affluent. Professionally, the audience is primarily from the
financial, real estate, legal and high-tech industries, with many making sports
and travel part of their corporate and personal lives.
