Big
Game Luncheon - Held each fall for over
fifty years, the Big Game Luncheon is among the
Bay Area's biggest and most popular social events,
attracting prominent dignitaries, sports personalities,
writers and newscasters alike. An important result
of the lunch has been the great corporate and
civic support of the Guardsmen's efforts.
Christmas
Tree Lot - Winter marks the beginning
of The Guardsmen fundraising activities, headlined
by the annual Christmas Tree Lot at Fort Mason.
Throughout the holiday season, Guardsmen members
and their families work the Tree Lot, selling
trees, ornaments and wreaths, and sharing the
Christmas spirit. Since its inception more than
thirty years ago, this highly successful program
has made the Guardsmen one of the largest retail
sellers of Chrismas trees in the Western United
States.
Sports
Auction - The Celebrity Sports Auction
has become one of the highlight events of The
Guardsmen fundraising year. The event auctions
varied sports memorabilia, from autographed sports
jerseys and equipment, to special opportunities,
like being a "bat boy for a day" at
an Oakland Athletics game. The Sports Auction
continues to be a significant contributor to the
group's fundraising pursuits.
Wine
Auction The annual wine tasting and auction has
been in force for thirty-two years. Supported
by over 20 pouring wineries, the event draws over 400
oenophiles and is one of the top ten
wine auctions in the United States and the largest event of its kind in the Bay Area.
